I've read much better by this author, to be honest she has written some of my favorite Desires.
The heroine is the hero's sister's best friend and they shared a kiss nine years ago. He's kind of a recluse since his wife's death five years ago so he is not happy when she comes to stay, but she needs the privacy since her stalker is in jail waiting trial and his being wealthy has had the press all over her.

She's pretty spontaneous and refuses to let his behaviour stand in the way, intruding on him and making him do things, the chemistry too is there but he's wallowing in his guilt. He got married because his wife was pregnant, he didn't love her, she did, things got bitter and she died, he blames himself.

I didn't love the book, it was pretty average.
