I love reading and as of now that is fiction only. Love all genres except horror and for the past few years, been gorging on romance. Thrillers are my first love and add some romance to it then all the more better.
The Way Home - Linda Howard It's a short novella but works well. The heroine becomes the hero's mistress because she loves him and knows it is the only way he will let her close. For two years they are together , the bed the only place where they can let go, where she can show her love for him . The hero comes across as cold at the start but he is really not he just doesn't know how to show emotion since he was hurt (tossed in the trash as a baby and then beaten around till he was 10) and his walls are really high. The thought of the heroine leaving him cripples him that is why he has made her dependent on him but the irony is his building her a nest egg . When she says she is leaving him because she is pregnant he slowly tries to deal with his past and tells her to give them a chance. What a tortured hero and moving book, LH at her best.
