Dani was introduced in the first book, her family had been kidnapped by the Lords because Aeron had been ordered by Cronus to kill them. For the past two months she has been running, afraid for her life, her family, not painting and then she is attacked by Hunters and taken captive.
Reyes, has the demon pain in him that forces him to self mutilate and ever since he met Dani he can't forget her but he can't have her as well experience has taught him that he hurts women, making them violent and he can't do that do Dani. Plus he is also grappling with the fact that he imprisoned his brother Aeron.
There are many developments in this book, Paris is still obsessing over Sienna but chooses Aeron finally. The Hunters are still on their tail and shocker led by Galen(Hope), the warrior that convinced them to steal the box. Cronus is a dick as usual.
And we finally learn why Dani is being hunted, she is the second artifact, eyes and her paintings have deeper meaning. This gift is in her bloodline and her grandmother had it as well. Most of the book there is a love/hate relationship between Reyes and Dani. Dani has been warned by the Hunters and asked to help them but somehow she can't do that. Reyes wants her but doesn't want to until Dani forces the issue and they kind of learn what she is capable of. Reyes demon also seems to adore Dani.
A nice installment in this series.
