I love reading and as of now that is fiction only. Love all genres except horror and for the past few years, been gorging on romance. Thrillers are my first love and add some romance to it then all the more better.
The Lovesick Cure - Pamela Morsi Rating 3.5 stars
This was my first contemporary read by this author, after having loved her historical books. To be honest this one was just not that great for me. The heroine has just had her heart broken and stomped on and to recuperate she goes to her aunt, someone she hasn't seen for a long time. The hero is a single father of a teenager whose heart has also been broken, but that was a long time ago. This book is more about the community than the romance. We have Aunt Will, the hero's son Tree and his girlfriend who is confused and desperate. Then the hero and heroine. They start a casual friends with benefits thing but there is genuine caring between them. I dunno the book just seemed kind of bland to me sometimes.
Tempted into Danger - Melissa Cutler Rating 4.5 stars
I was awake till 5:30 in the morning reading this book, it was that good. I didn't expect it to be because the one book I have read by this author was unforgettable but this one was awesome. Great characters, great romance, action, a totally well rounded book. The hero is an ICE agent who lives for his job and when he is told to retrieve the heroine he doesn't like the assignment, his black ops team is too good for such an assignment and then complications arise and he is left alone with the heroine.

The heroine is a US citizen who moved to Panama when her best friend moved down there. She is brilliant yet has abandonment issues, ever since she lost her mother as an infant and her father a football coach was never around. She came up with a algorithm that could possibly prevent criminal laundering and for that everyone wants her, from US government to the bad guys and now the hero is the only one protecting her.

From the start sexual sparks fly, I loved how the hero/heroine talk and get to know each other the best they could in their circumstances. The romance was AWESOME! Seeing a tough commando like the hero fall so hard was the best part for me and his team-mates reactions were epic. Loved, loved the book and I am sure Ryan is next.
Don't Play Games - A pretty unusual HP. Why because when the book starts the heroine is married to a grade-A dick who is rude to her and cheats on her. Despite all of this she has continued in the sham of a marriage for five years because she believes in vows but that night, she meets the hero who shows an interest in her, a interest her husband seems to encourage and she has FINALLY had enough and asks for a divorce. Her hubby tells her he will grant her a divorce if she comes on the cruise that the hero arranged. She decides to do this one last thing and then her husband dies.

The book takes unusual turns. The hero is upfront about his interest in her but she just got out of a hellish marriage. Hero proposes a contract, lets get married and they both get kids. She agrees because that is what she has always wanted. I enjoyed the book, it was short and enjoyable. The hero and heroine admit their feelings after something his wicked but maybe not so wicked mom arranges.
Hard Irish (Weldon, #3) - Jennifer Saints This book came as a surprise to me because even though I have read the other two books in the series, they were pretty much average for me, this one worked better. The hero and his twin run wild and their construction business isn't doing so well. Their chief rival is another business which he learns is being helmed by the heroine. He meets her before he knows who she is and is attracted to her. Then he appoints himself her bodyguard when "accidents" start happening. Of course his lie stretches out for a long time, she thinks he is a security person when he is not. She has plenty to deal with, a psycho ex, dead uncle, sick father and secrets about her parents past. The suspense sub-plot was a bit far-fetched for me but I still ended up liking the book.
Hard-Hearted Hero (Rebels & Rogues) (Harlequin Temptation, #644) - Pamela Burford This book didn't work for me at all. Why? First of I am not a masochist and I do not enjoy reading a book where the hero treats the heroine like shit. He kidnaps her and keeps her captive, why? Well he thinks she is the woman who broke his little bro's heart and led to his suicide and as he promised, he will deprogram her 'coz she joined a cult. I found his treatment of her demeaning and I couldn't believe that the heroine didn't leave him when she could and instead had sex with him. Eeew! I did like that she left him at the end 'coz she was thinking what I was thinking Stockholm Syndrome alert!!!

I expected to like this book because I have liked books by this author before but this one just kept pushing my buttons.

The Wildes of Wyoming--Ace

The Wildes of Wyoming: Ace - Ruth Ryan Langan Ace is the youngest brother and something of a dare-devil. He considers himself a gambler, so when he is hustled at pool by the heroine he is mad as hell and when it turns out that the heroine is a new employee he gets mighty suspicious and fires her.
The heroine is back in town after spending years away from her grandfather. She hustled the hero because she wanted to buy her grandfather a scooter to move around. I loved how the romance got going and the hero seemed comfortable around her grandfather, whose sworn enemies were the Wildes. Well the truth about his surname comes out and there are fireworks but the romance doesn't disappear. I loved how their falling in love seemed so natural. This book absolutely followed the formula of the other two books in the series but it works.

Tangled

Tangled - Emma Chase This book was such a different book and even though the hero was a major jerk I still ended up liking. It is narrated in the first POV by Drew the hero, who is a major ladies man and thinks the world of himself and then the heroine Kate walks into his life. She doesn't melt over him, challenges him, fights with him and is engaged to another man. It was hilarious the whole I have the flu situation and how he goes about winning her back.

Wildes of Wyoming--Hazard

Wildes of Wyoming--Hazard - Hazard is the middle brother and the one who loves the ranch and animals the most and an experiment of his has gone wrong and as a result of it he calls on the expertise of the heroine. The heroine is a researcher born to academically brilliant parents but her upbringing left her socially inept and so did her prodigy status. Seeing the hero and the close bonds he shares with his family is very different for her and she likes it. We see her blossom in many ways and so does the romance rather quickly. I loved how the hero was so gentle with her at first and aware of her inexperience. They don't hide their feelings and we are made aware of the fact that they are falling in love. Several components of the book reminded me of the first book of the series which is not a bad thing. I can't wait to read Ace's book.

Wildes of Wyoming... Change

The Wildes of Wyoming: Chance - Ruth Ryan Langan This was a nice book and starts off with the hero and his two younger brothers attending the funeral of their father. The beginning puts a question mark on their future and the ranch their father ran. When the book opens again the hero Chance, the eldest is rich business man and rancher and we are shown that they not only survived but thrived.

The heroine Maggie is running from something and over the course of the book the details become clearer. She comes into the hero's life when she is hired as a cook by his brothers and their relationship begins with animosity but the hero soon comes to see that the heroine is no threat instead she is the one under threat. I loved seeing the heroine slowly build something at the ranch away from her former life as a chef. Love is not slow to build between them and I ended up loving the book, even the shenanigans between the brothers.

His Risk to Take (Line of Duty, #2)

His Risk to Take (Line of Duty, #2) - Tessa Bailey I had a perpetual WTH expression on my face while reading this. This called for suspension of belief and logic and I can do that sometimes but not with this. Plus the book seemed too sexed up. Hero is new to town, heroine is a hustler, they get hot and heavy and hero likes to dominate in bed. Their worlds collide and drama.
Relentless - Cherry Adair I went into this book expecting nothing because the last few books of this author have been a bust for me so imagine my surprise when this turned out to be so good. A constant edge of the seat thriller, the action never stopped. The hero is a MI5 and recent Lodestone operative recovering from his injuries courtesy of a brutal torture. The heroine is his new client and she wants to find Cleopatra's tomb for her father, who chased it for decades. The chemistry between the characters is explosive and what I loved was that the hero didn't have to be kicked on his head in the end to give in to his feelings, he just knew and capitulated.
Wolf with Benefits - Shelly Laurenston I haven't been impressed by the last few books by this author, this one seemed so seamless and flowed. Yes, the romance came out of the blue and was underdeveloped, heroine's family was weird and so was the hero following her but hell this is the Pride series which is nothing if not weird.
Midnight Secrets - Ella Grace Rating 3.5 stars

I've always enjoyed Christy Reece's writing, so when I heard she was launching a new series under a different name, I was excited and my excitement proved right. Midnight Secrets is a solid start to what I predict will be a great series.

The book begins with a murder and then jumps ten years forward to when the three triplets who were left orphaned by their parents apparent murder-suicide, going to their high school prom. The heroine of this book is Savannah, the shy, bookish sister who we see blossom and fall in love with the town bad boy Zach.

Now, the hero Zach is not actually a bad boy, he is just a guy who has struggled to support his brother and a mother who only cares about men. He is about to go into the army when he meets the heroine and falls for her. They have different backgrounds and life experiences and yet they click and we see them fall in love and then the book jumps ahead a decade again.

The heroine is now an attorney and it is apparent that the hero and heroine are not together and slowly we learn how, when the heroine goes back to her hometown where the hero is now the Sheriff.

I found the characters appealing though the hero's reason for leaving was dumb and the dragging on of the heroine's secret which could be easily guessed was annoying but otherwise I liked the book quite a bit. The heroine's reticence to open up again, to keep her cards close to her chest rang true, and so did Zach's regret over what happened between them when they were teenagers. Plus the revelation of her parent's murder was shocking, I didn't guess who the culprit was at all.

All in all this is one book I would recommend.

Beth and the Barbarian (Harlequin Presents, No 11711) - Miranda Lee Rating 2.5 stars
I know a lot of people like Miranda Lee but somehow none of her books have done it for me but I don't why I keep beating my head on the wall but I think I should give up now. This book was like a bad porn/horror sheikh fantasy. The heroine is tall and thinks I am unattractive, she just loves horses. The hero is of course a womanzing handsome sheikh and he wins her on a bet, eew, eew and eew. She falls for him of course, instead of romantic I found it all demeaning.

Rules of Entanglement (Fighting for Love, #2)

Rules of Entanglement (Fighting for Love, #2) - Gina L. Maxwell Rating 3.5 stars
Wild for the Sheriff - Kathleen O'Brien This was one of those books I picked up on a whim, I honestly expect it to be as good as it was. Great, fleshed out characters and a heroine filled with issues from her upbringing and one that ran from emotions. Her mother's murder at the hands of her father, changed her life, she and her two sisters became estranged and now she's back to her hometown to sell her house. She of course runs into the hero, a guy who made her feel, to whom she lost her virginity. The hero is kind of happy to have her back, but he is dealing with a lot, a son who wants his mother back and seems hell bent on driving him nuts. I loved the sub-plot with the heros' brother and a character I am sure will show up again.

The heroine is sometimes so adorable and hurt that you want to hug her. I loved the hero, he could be uptight yet was so good. I just can't wait to read about the heroine's sisters.
