I love reading and as of now that is fiction only. Love all genres except horror and for the past few years, been gorging on romance. Thrillers are my first love and add some romance to it then all the more better.
An Act of Persuasion - Stephanie Doyle Rating 3.5 stars

In One Final Step we read about Ben Tyler, the former CIA operative turned head of the Tyler Group and his struggle with cancer. We also read about his assistant Ana and were offered glimpses of her feelings and An Act of Persuasion is their story.

Ana left Ben after he made a decision about his health after sleeping with her and not considering her. She has had enough with being left behind, her mother did that and that happened in her first foster home as well, so she leaves, after having spent six years as Ben's assistant and being in love with him.

Ben is 45 years old and has never been in love. His health was something he couldn't fight and now that Ana is gone, he misses her though he won't ever admit that until Ana comes to him and tells him she is pregnant. That news both shocks and pleases him, shocks because as a man of principles he never wanted to take advantage of an employee despite the fact that he has had an awareness about the heroine and pleased because the cancer took away his fertility now he gets Ana back plus a child.

However things don't go as easily, Ana has gotten a job with the hero's rival in CIA days and says hell no to his marriage proposal but Ben is a determined man and wants Ana back though he won't admit the reasons. Ana however is hurt and wary and reflects back on her love and how she was comfortable loving him from afar and now wants to run when he is willing to try too.

The book is all about Ben opening up and Ana running scared and finding reasons to keep Ben at a distance. For me Ben was a great guy who could be pushy and a little dense. Ana on the other hand was character you felt for and wanted to push. Still I enjoyed the book and also the sub-plot with Mark and his daughter.

One Final Step - Stephanie Doyle Rating 3.5 stars
Well this was one deep book, filled with two characters Madeleine and Michael who had deep emotional scars and issues. The hero is a former con who made it big in racing and now wants to start a car and needs investment and the heroine for that. In order to get money he needs the heroine to spruce up his image. The heroine isn't sure she wants the job, she has spent the past seven years hiding. She used to be young and successful when one mistake she made changed all that and branded her a whore and the shame of it is, she has never forgiven herself and can't deal with the spotlight.

So, when the hero shows interest in her as a woman, her first instinct is to run. But things aren't so easy, you see the hero has his secrets too from his years spent in prison. I loved reading about two flawed characters. Both of them didn't magically get over their issues. The heroine kind of acted all obstinate and stupid till the end. I loved reading about Ben and Ana, whose book I am looking forward too.
Bound In Death (Bound, #5) - Cynthia Eden This was a kind of typical Eden book, witches, betrayal etc The hero has been searching for the heroine his soul-mate for ages, she took his punishment. She has forgotten her past and he wants her back.

Down and Dirty (Dare Me, #2)

Down and Dirty (Dare Me, #2) - Christine Bell The book was totally HOT!!The heroine Cat has commitment issues because she feels her mother compromised and gave up her dream to marry her father, so she lives life fully. She constantly finds faults with men she is dating and runs from love.

The hero is someone the heroine has always known is a threat to her freedom. They almost shared something, but he stopped and that irks her. The hero is back in town for good and the heroine is one of the reasons but he knows telling her that would be a sure fast way of making her run.

The heroine to run him off, signs him up for an online dating site. You can see how desperate she is. The heroine had her stupid moments but I loved how she kind of tries to make it up to him.
Project: Runaway Heiress - Heidi Betts I kind of felt disconnected from the story and wanted to laugh at heroine's actions and motivations. Her designs are stolen and instead of telling her sisters and letting the PI she hired do the work, she takes off and goes undercover in the guilty company as the hero's PA. Isn't that corporate espionage or something? Then she gets involved with the boss, another stupid move. Of course the culprit is obvious. I just didn't find anything special in the book.
The Return of the Sheikh - Kristi Gold I liked the book, plenty of angst because of hero's impending coronation and the rules that he has to marry a royal. Plenty of sequel baiting with the hero's brothers and a miracle pregnancy. Despite being predictable it made for a good read.

Down for the Count (Dare Me Series, #1)

Down for the Count (Dare Me Series, #1) - Christine Bell Wooh, the sexual tension in this book was off the charts. The heroine who just got married a few hours back, catches her hubby in the act with one of her oldest friends and the hero is there to witness her humiliation. What hurts the heroine the most is her friend's betrayal and it makes her realize that she wasn't really in love. She escapes with the hero, who is a boxer and is also the brother of her best friend.

The hero and heroine have never been close, the hero kind of has always tormented her. After a conversation when she is drunk and confesses her lack of sexual experience and sexual satisfaction he dares her to go on what would have been her honeymoon. Now, the heroine has always been a thinker, she comes from a wealthy family and has a mother who is controlling but with the hero she slowly lets go off her inhibitions. And well the marriage gets annulled easily. I found the book pretty darn good, the hero's fear that he was her rebound, her fear that she wouldn't be enough, all well depicted.

The writing was good, characters were great and the sexual sizzle, was worth noticing.
Attachments - Rainbow Rowell The book takes time to get going but before you know it, it pulls you in. There is no alpha characters here, hell the book is all about Lincoln and how he gradually sorts his life out and the book is about the e-mail conversations. The hero and heroine actually meet in the last 10 pages. Such a feel good book.
Straddling the Line - Sarah M. Anderson This author is so unlike a Desire author which is a good thing. Huge biker dysfunctional family, check? Heroine with mixed heritage, never fitting in, check. Sexy and romantic, check. I loved the hero more than the heroine, who seemed too fixated on acceptance. Even in the end it was the hero who chased her and bought her affection which seemed shallow.
Merger by Matrimony - Cathy Williams Rating 3.5 stars
This book was so unlike a typical HP. The heroine has always lead a different life, helping people so when she is suddenly left with a company and inheritance from an uncle she doesn't know and needs to go to England. Everything, the opulence etc is a shock to her and then there is the hero who wants her to sell the company and is engaged to her step-cousin. I loved how the hero's engagement is dissolved and how the hero is the one who falls for her first.
Love Irresistibly - Julie James The heroine and heroine are both successful professionally but kind of duds when it comes to being in a relationship. Things start out casual between them and then get deeper. As usual Julie James doesn't disappoint.

Whose Lie is it Anyway? (Harlequin Superromance, No 1397)

Whose Lie Is It Anyway? - Abby Gaines Loved this book, the heroine was a control freak while the hero was fixated on revenge and the past. I loved reading about the heroine's unusual background and her mother and the special agent. The heroine's naivette annoyed me sometimes besides that I liked the book especially the hero's freak-out to heroine's love and virgin confession.
Reflection Point - Emily March Rating 3.5 stars
Calculated in Death - J.D. Robb Rating 3.5 stars

Tactical Strike (Bagram Special Ops, #2)

Tactical Strike (Bagram Special Ops, #2) - Kaylea Cross Tactical Strike is the second book in the awesome Bagram series by Kaylea Cross and despite the long wait it doesn't disappoint.

In the first book Deadly Descent readers were introduced to by the rules pilot Captain Candace Bradford and rebellious Staff Sergeant Ryan Wentworth and the sparks they struck of each other but Candace is miles apart from Ryan, first she is an officer and fraternization is forbidden then she isn't sure she likes Ryan half of the time, he has a big mouth and disobeys her even when she tells him to keep his distance.

Sounds awesome, right? And it is, military maneuvers, a first hot kiss and the hottest first sex scene ever! The book totally doesn't disappoint. The suspense is top notch, the danger of being stranded when the enemy is surrounding you and being professional even when the person you love is in danger.

The romance once it starts going is lovely, I loved how these two gave their all to each other despite the heroine's complicated family and their career. I so can't wait for the next story, since I love this series, this author and the characters who are next.
